"The most perfect and vivid expression of our time, in philosophy as well as in literature, is the fragment. The great works of our time are not compact blocks, but rather totalities of fragments, constructions always in motion by the same law of complementary oppositions that rules the particles in physics." - Octavio Paz

This blog is a collection of insights and reflections drawn from a life of pondering questions about what ought to count as important in seeking to understand humankind's religious enterprise. I will be adding new posts on the 1st and 15th of every month.

My purpose in sharing these "notes to myself" on faith and ethics in this blog format is to stimulate in readers their own internal dialogue about these issues.

These reflections are fragments -- a grab bag, filled with shells and coloured glass that intrigue and provoke my interest as I stroll along the wide and indented beach of human religious experience. Since my formative experience in religious life was in the United Church of Canada, many of my reflections are focused on questions and debates within that context.
