ABOUT ME

2014-05-21 11.27.08.jpg

I am Emeritus Professor of religion at Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada.

Besides graduate degrees in Theology, I hold a PhD in History of Religion from McGill University in Montreal.

My academic interests lie in problems of religious diversity, comparative religious ethics, method and theory in the study of religion and the Ahmadi Movement in Islam.

Previously, I served as a minister of the United Church of Canada and taught in the Religion Department at Vassar College.

My wife Peggy died a decade ago, one year after the death of our son, Mark. I have three remarkable, talented daughters and four amazing grandsons. At 88, my trekking days are over but I enjoy reminiscing about my hikes to the base of Mount Everest, K2 and Little Tibet.
